Dear colleagues and friends,
On behalf of the organizing committee and myself, it is a great honor to welcome you to the European Iron Club meeting 2010:
BUILDING BRIDGES WITH BIO-IRON: FROM BENCH TO BEDSIDE
that is to take place at the Radboud Auditorium of the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, in the Netherlands.
Nijmegen is the eldest city of the Netherlands, situated on a range of hills near the river Waal. Thousands of years before the Romans founded Novio Magum farming communities already lived at the banks of the river. The city has attracted people since its very foundation. The surrounding area features hills, woods and polders, creating a varied countryside offering a range of recreational opportunities to both citizens and tourists.Past and present go hand in hand; historic buildings are interspersed with fine examples of modern architecture.
We hope these wonderful surroundings will not distract you from the scientific program. In this two day meeting, recent insights obtained from basic bio-iron research as well as promising and novel applications for patients with iron disorders, will be presented in keynote lectures, selected abstracts and posters.
The meeting will open on 15th of September 2010 with a buffet for the early arrived participants.
Weeze Airport (near Dusseldorf, for cheap flights) has several connections in Europe and is an easy 30 minutes from the city center of Nijmegen. The international Airports of Düsseldorf, Eindhoven and Amsterdam are situated within an 1.5 hour train journey of the city.
Additionally, we hope you will spend some extra time in The Netherlands with interesting city’s and a beautiful countryside
On behalf of myself and the organizing committee, we are looking forward to seeing you in Nijmegen in September.
